Beautiful but not extravagant and clear but not coquettish heavenly ponds like amber

Ninety-nine Dragon Ponds scenic spot is located at the foot of the main peak on the north side of Mount Laojun, 80 kilometers southwest of the seat of Lidong County, Yunnan and covered by the Forest Area of Mount Laojun. 4,247 meters above sea level, it has nearly 100 clear ponds with various sizes, which are combined into a scenic area with considerable specifications, hence called Ninety-nine Dragon Ponds.

Around the lakes are firs and azalea bushes. Every late spring and early summer, mountains and fields are covered by colorful blooming azaleas; the winding Ninety-nine Dragon Ponds is as clear as mirrors. The odd peaks and rocks, clear lakes and streams, blossoms, and bird chirps are full of freshness. Sky and water complement each other, like in a fairyland. When the colorful azaleas covering the mountains fall with petals becoming white and snow unmelted at the turn of spring to summer, stretches of white azaleas stand proudly in the snow, forming a beautiful view of blossoms in snow or snow on blossoms. At a distance, one cannot tell blossoms from snow.
